First Impressions

Walking up to Hotel Irisa on Banu Manta Boulevard, you immediately get the sense that this is one of those places locals actually know about. It’s a solid four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress — which, honestly, makes it more impressive. The building has this understated elegance that fits perfectly with the upscale Sector 1 neighborhood, and you can tell from the moment you step inside that they’ve put thought into the details without going overboard.

Perfect Positioning in Bucharest

The location is genuinely fantastic, and I mean that — recent guests rated it 8.7, which is pretty remarkable for Bucharest. You’re right in the heart of things but on a quieter boulevard that doesn’t get the crazy traffic noise. Couples especially seem to love it here (they gave the location an 8.5 rating), and I can see why. You can walk to the old town in about 15 minutes, but you’re also close enough to the business district that it works for work trips too. There’s something about being on Banu Manta that puts you right where you want to be without feeling like you’re in the middle of tourist chaos.

The Room Experience

The rooms here strike that perfect balance between comfortable and polished. My room had this clean, modern design that didn’t feel sterile — you know what I mean? The beds are genuinely comfortable (not just hotel-marketing comfortable), and the bathrooms are well-appointed without being flashy. What I really appreciated was the attention to practical details — good lighting for actually reading, decent closet space, and windows that actually open. It’s the kind of place where you can tell they’ve listened to guest feedback over the years.

Morning Fuel

Breakfast is where Hotel Irisa really shows its character. They do both continental and buffet options, and honestly, the quality surprised me. The buffet isn’t huge, but everything on it is actually good — fresh pastries, decent coffee, and they usually have some Romanian specialties mixed in with the international standards. I found myself looking forward to breakfast, which doesn’t always happen at hotels. The dining area gets good morning light, and there’s usually a nice mix of business travelers and couples, so it has this pleasant, lived-in energy.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Here’s what really tells you something about a place — Hotel Irisa has more repeat guests than most other properties in the area. That’s not an accident. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting things right, and there’s this consistency that you start to appreciate after you’ve stayed at enough hotels where things are hit-or-miss. The 8.4 overall rating feels earned rather than inflated. It’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Bucharest, but it’s doing what it does really well. For the location, the quality, and that reliable comfort level, it’s become one of those places I actually recommend to people — and I’m pretty picky about that.

The location of the hotel is not in a nice area. The hotel equipment is quite old, but the hotel is clean and comfortable.
Very good breakfast. The restaurant is open until night, and local people go there for dinner.

The location of the hotel is good. It is in sector 1. It’s around 30-40 minutes to the centre on foot, or 15 minutes to the wealthier neighbourhood to the north. The hotel itself - the building and the rooms - are very nice. The hotel was built well. Bedrooms are soundproof. The quality of the building and framework are excellent. The bedrooms are large and it’s very good value for money.

Traditional family-owned hotel, conveniently located in a quiet residential neighbourhood close to the centre and Herastrau Park. Excellent breakfast with plenty of variety. Good value for money.

Very good, extensive breakfast the first two days, but scaled back on Sunday and Monday, and they only had the muesli with chocolate pieces in it. The omelettes were very nice. Lots of pastries available.
I had an evening meal one day, just a greek salad, but it was absolutely lovely.
My room was a great size, with a large very comfortable bed.
